(Match Report by John Molloy)
Navan headed south to Arklow on Saturday. Navan are quite familiar with this Arklow/Gorey combination having lost out to them in a Leinster league final in their last encounter.
Navan got off to a shaky start letting Argo cross the line twice in the first ten minutes. Navan settled down and countered with three tries of their own from Sarah White, Mia Kavanagh and Ella O’Higgins, two converted by Lillian Brady, giving Navan 19 to 10 advantage at the break.
Emma Brogan opened up the scoring in the second half followed by a strong spell from Argo netting them two more tries. Navan kept their composure and responded with tries from Sarah Molloy and a second one from Emma Brogan with another conversion from our captain Lillian Brady giving a final score of 36 -20.
It was a pleasure to watch a great game of rugby from two very strong sides on a pleasant Autumn day. Usually, we have a player of the match but this game was won by a complete team effort from the 15 Navan players.
Well done all. Looking forward to the next time they meet.
