In the second match of a doubleheader on Saturday at Balreask Old, Greystones demonstrated their prowess, clinching a convincing victory over Navan in a Leinster Metro League Premier 2 fixture with a final score of 35-5.
In the first-half, Navan started with a burst of energy, scoring a try to the left of the posts through a commendable forwards effort. However, the conversion slipped to the left, leaving the score at 5-0.
A few minutes later,Greystones swiftly responded with dynamic phases, securing a try and a successful conversion. The scoreboard shifted to the visitors taking the lead 5-7.
Midway through the first half, Greystones extended their lead with a penalty kick, adding three more points to go 5-10 up. Another two penalty kicks in the last eleven minutes leading to half-time saw the visitors at the break leading 5-16.
Greystones continued their dominance with another try eight minutes into the second half to the right of the posts, along with a successful conversion. The score extended 5-23.
Then on 56 minutes a yellow card for the Greystones scrum-half provided Navan with an opportunity. Despite a kick ahead and a lineout inside the visitors' 22-meter line, the ball was turned over, and Greystones regained control.
Greystones showcased their strength once again in the 77th minute with a try to the right of the posts. The conversion was missed, but the lead increased to Navan 5, Greystones 28.
On the stroke of Full-Time, Greystones sealed their dominant display with another try at the stroke of full-time, initiating a break from within their half. The conversion was successful, concluding the match with a resounding victory for Greystones at Navan 5, Greystones 35.
