Navan Rugby Football Club Commences Construction of New Gymnasium Facility with Sod Turning Ceremony

In a momentous occasion preceding the Men's All-Ireland League & Leinster Metro League double-header between Navan and Greystones at Balreask Old on Saturday, Navan Rugby Football Club celebrated the initiation of construction for their new gymnasium facility. The sod turning ceremony marked the commencement of this significant project, made possible by a €150k Sports Capital grant awarded to the club.

Present at the ceremony were esteemed dignitaries and key members of the club, highlighting the importance of this milestone. Cllr Tommy Reilly, Cathaoirleach of Meath County Council, and Cllr Padraig Fitzsimons, Leas-Cathaoirleach of Navan Municipal District, graced the occasion. They were joined by Navan RFC Club-President Damien Dixon, Navan RFC Club-Chairman Brendan Farrell, and other club members, collectively symbolizing the collaborative effort and community spirit driving the project forward.

Navan RFC's receipt of the Sports Capital grant, coupled with the Planning Permission granted by Meath County Council, paved the way for the realization of the new gymnasium facility. This development aligns with the club's commitment to enhancing its infrastructure and facilities.

To involve the community in the club's future, Navan RFC has initiated a "Buy A Tile" fundraiser. Members and companies are invited to contribute by purchasing a brick or tile, and in return, their names will be prominently displayed on the club's "Wall of Donors" in the clubhouse. This initiative not only fosters a sense of community engagement but also ensures that those who contribute are forever part of the club's legacy. The sod turning ceremony and the subsequent construction of the gymnasium facility mark a pivotal moment for Navan RFC. The club, which is approaching its Centenary next year with a rich history and a commitment to remaining the top rugby union football club in the North-East Leinster area and one of the leading clubs in Ireland, is strategically positioning itself for continued success. The new facility is anticipated to play a crucial role in the club's ongoing pursuit of excellence, aiding in adult & youths player development for both Mens & Women's rugby and contributing to the overall growth of the sport in the region.

As Navan RFC looks to the future, the support and engagement of its members and the wider community through initiatives like the "Buy A Tile" fundraiser reinforce the shared vision of securing the club's All-Ireland League status for years to come.
