(Match Report by Michelle Claffey)

Navan RFC travelled to Arklow for the first round of the Paul Cusack Cup. The squad were looking forward to the Cup campaign after a successful League, securing promotion to Leinster League Division 2 for next season.
Navan started brightly, with Molly Fitzgerald nabbing two tries in quick succession. This was only enabled through the tireless work of the forwards. Standout performers of Emily Jo White, Rosie Searle and Louise Crinion carried for Navan to give the platform for scrumhalf Anna Bolger to release the backline.
Chelsea McGroarty excelled at hook today, both in lineouts and scrum.
Off of a break in play, Navan had a scrum and brilliant interplay between Cara Martin and Áine Castles saw the winger race down the right wing. Hauled down just before the try line, Fitzgerald was on hand for the offload to finish off a super setpiece move.
Emma Looby carried excellently today, and ably accompanied by Kayleigh Crinion on her return from an injury she sustained earlier in the year.
Navan were thrilled at full-time on advancing to the second round of the Paul Cusack Cup.
That fixture is set to be played at home on Sunday the 24th March at 1pm V's Kilkenny. All support is welcome.
