Navan RFC welcomed Division 4 side Kilkenny to Navan for the second round of the Paul Cusack Cup. The game started with a rapid pace with Navan striking in the 12th minute. On form winger Aine Castles touched down after some strong forward carries to allow her to dot down for her first of the day. Emily Jo White in outstanding form showed her abilities by following in Castles footsteps minutes later to get the score in Navan's favour 10-0 after 15 minutes. It didn't take Kilkenny long to strike back with their own try.

In a game that was a highly sought after fixture, Castles popped up again to score her second of the day and settle the Navan team. Navan's stalwart Emma Looby suffered an injury which saw the introduction of Mairead Carty, a dynamic player who worked tirelessly throughout the game. As the game neared half time, Molly Fitzgerald secured a brace of tries for Navan. Her excellent footwork and turn of pace providing the basis for both her tries. Leaving the score 27-5 at the half way mark.

Navan continued their dominance in the second half. Gathering momentum, creating opportunities, and sticking with their structure is key to the Navan framework. Anna Bolger directed the team around the pitch, enabled through Anita Lennon's swift delivery from the base of rucks. Ava Galvin's work rate was off the scale, a cog in a very successful scrummaging team performance.

The game finished on a score line of Navan 39 - Kilkenny 15.

Navan continue on to the next round of the Paul Cusack Cup Semi Final v Greystones on April 7th at 1pm in Navan RFC. All support welcome and appreciated.
