Navan fought back from being a try down to defeat Old Wesley 20-14 in their Leinster Metro League Division 7 match played in Balreask Old on Friday evening.
The home side went into the game with only two wins from their previous six league games, however with club stalwarts Thomas Geraghty & Riaan Van Der Vyver amongst the Lineup, Navan were confident.
In the first half Old Wesley scored a converted try to to take the initial lead with Navan kicking a penalty in response.
The game though did change with Old Wesley having a player being sent to the sin-bin for an infraction.
Navan took advantage of the numbers and scored a converted try to lead 10-7
In the second half Navan added two more tries to open up some daylight with the visitors on the scoreboard.
Old Wesley did add a second try, however Navan did hold out for the win.
Flanker James O’Hare put in a strong performance to be named “Player of the Match” for the home side.
Navan will resume their league programme on Saturday 25th January when they travel to face Guinness in the Iveagh Grounds with a 2:30pm kick-off.
