Navan native and current Ireland co-captain Sam Monaghan has been named in the Ireland Women’s matchday squad for this weekend’s Rugby World Cup warm-up fixture against Scotland.

The match will take place at Virgin Media Park, Cork, on Saturday, August 2nd, kicking off at 2pm.

Monaghan returns to lead the team following a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to an ACL injury sustained last year. Her inclusion by Head Coach Scott Bemand marks a significant milestone in her return to full fitness as Ireland ramps up preparations for the 2025 Rugby World Cup.

Sam remains a familiar face at Balreask Old. Despite her busy international commitments, she frequently makes time to support the club, recently joining a coaching session with our Under-12 Girls earlier this spring.

Everyone at Navan RFC extends their heartfelt congratulations to Sam and wishes her and the Irish team the very best in Saturday’s clash and in the RWC warm-up campaign ahead.
