Past Navan RFC and Ireland U20s player Sam Wisniewski, accompanied by his father Marek, made a special visit to Balreask Old last week to present his Ireland U20 jersey to the club. The jersey, worn during last month’s World Rugby U20 Championship, will take pride of place among the club’s growing collection of memorabilia honouring its international representatives.

The presentation was made to incoming Club President Eddie Lyons, who in turn gifted Sam with a Navan RFC Centenary Tie to mark the occasion and wish him well on his next rugby chapter. Sam is set to join Stade Montois in France’s “Pro D2” the second tier of professional rugby in France, where he will begin his professional career later this summer.

Also in attendance was Honorary Secretary Gerry Sweeney, who fondly recalled coaching Sam during his formative years in minis and youths rugby at the club.

While Sam’s rugby journey saw him move to Dublin for school and later club rugby, he has always remained connected to Navan RFC, returning whenever possible and proudly acknowledging his roots in the club.

Navan RFC extends its congratulations to Sam on his recent achievements and wishes him every success in France. We look forward to following his progress with Stade Montois and beyond.
