Leinster U18 Girls Grading Group D (Saturday 1st November)
Naas 14 Navan 19
Forenaughts, Naas.
Navan RFC’s U18 Girls got their Leinster League campaign off to a winning start with a hard-fought 19–14 victory away to Naas on Saturday.
From the first whistle, Captain Emma Hyland led by example, driving her team forward with strong carries and communication. Navan started brightly when Aisling Caffrey crossed for her first try for the club just five minutes in, with Maggie Kerin adding the conversion.
Navan continued to dominate the first half, controlling possession and territory. Amy Kennedy powered over from a well-executed scrum, and Kerin again added the extras to give the visitors a deserved 14–0 lead at half-time.
Facing into the wind in the second half, Navan introduced fresh legs from the bench to maintain intensity. Despite a determined Naas comeback, Navan’s defence held firm, and Emma O’Rourke’s well-taken try proved decisive in sealing the 19–14 victory.
It was a strong team performance full of commitment and teamwork to open their league season in style.
Navan's Player of the Match was Aisling Caffrey – for her dynamic play, strong running, and opening try.
