Dear parents of a Navan RFC Youth player.

As Navan RFC Youth Coordinator, and with the new season is about to start in earnest next weekend with our first Youth Competitive matches, I would like to share with you all an important message from the club.

At Navan RFC we firmly believe that our role as coaches, team managers and mentors is to make your child enjoy the game of rugby while developing their rugby skills at each training session, giving them opportunities to put what they’ve learned at training into action during the weekend matches - and have a huge amount of fun with their rugby friends in the process.

Our aim at Youth level is NOT to win games at all costs, and although we all have a competitive streak and enjoy coming out of a match on the winning side, winning for our youth players should be the result of the skills they’ve developed at training over the years but NOT the ultimate goal.

Any player of a youth squad regardless of his/her ability should be given the same opportunity to take part in training sessions and matches.

Only by being actively involved in training and matches will players learn and make progress.

This is what Navan RFC believes in, and as a club we will do our best to ensure that this is happening throughout all our youth teams.

Should you have any concerns or queries about this, now or later in the season, please do not hesitate to contact me privately.

Wishing you all a great rugby season,

Cyril Escobar
